This year, our friends at the Oregon Zoo are hosting all kinds of Halloween themed events.
Squishing of the Squash
The Oregon Zoo’s annual Squishing of the Squash, in which some of the world’s largest land animals demolish some of the area’s largest pumpkins, will be held Friday, Oct. 25, at 10:30 a.m. How will Lily the elephant react to her first giant pumpkin? Best vantage will be from the Overlook viewing of the elephant’s back yard.
Friday, Oct. 25, at 10:30 a.m. Asian elephants receive the massive squash at 10:30 a.m.
Trick-or-treaters can fill their bags with goodies and learn about wildlife during Howloween at the Oregon Zoo. In keeping with the zoo’s mission, Howloween aims to be educational as well as fun. An intriguing scavenger hunt directs trick-or-treaters to easily accessible activity stations throughout the zoo. Activities are themed to teach kids about animals around the zoo, and their habitats and adaptations. Goody bags filled with candy and prizes will be given out for completed hunts at the zoo’s exit.
Throughout the weekend, visitors can watch the zoo’s enrichment team provide animals with holiday-themed treats like jack-o’-lanterns stuffed with snacks. Enrichment items such as pumpkins help keep the zoo’s animals mentally and physically stimulated.
The event runs Oct. 26-27 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is free with zoo admission.
Tiger Birthdays & Trick or Treat Party
It’s a birthday party for the Zoo’s two Amur tigers, and trick-or-treat party for little tikes!
The event runs Oct. 31 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is free with zoo admission.
We are so excited to be giving away four family four packs of tickets to lucky readers to use for the Halloween fun at the Oregon Zoo. Details to enter below.
