As you know — we here at PDX Kids Calendar like to celebrate when we hit major milestones – and 5,000 Facebook fans is a MAJOR milestone! We are thrilled to be partnering with our friends at the Portland Children’s Museum and are is super excited to giveaway 5 Museum 1+1 Memberships!
Portland Children’s Museum is the museum that doesn’t act like a museum. You won’t find any velvet ropes inside, and playing with and touching our exhibits is strongly encouraged. Our main exhibit is the imagination of the children who play here. Every activity from permanent to traveling exhibits is designed to encourage children to play and wonder while they learn about themselves and the world around them. Make a splash in Water Works; explore the Twilight Trail; traverse PoChiMu Peak; plow into the Dig Pit; care for a furry friend in the Pet Hospital; shop and cook in Grasshopper Grocery and Butterfly Bistro; watch little ones bloom in Baby’s Garden; sculpt a creation in Clay Studio; make a masterpiece in Paint & Play class, and so much more.
Current and upcoming traveling exhibits:
Chagall for Children Now – January 21, 2013 – Arranged like a miniature art gallery, this one-of-a-kind exhibit features 14 reproductions of famed artist Marc Chagall’s most famous paintings. Chagall’s vivid artwork combined with unique, playful, hands-on activities makes for the most fun you’ve ever had at an art gallery. Visit portlandcm.org/chagall-for-children.
Storyland: A Trip Through Childhood Favorites February 9 – May 2013 – Step inside the pages of your favorite childhood stories. Storyland transforms beloved picture books – The Tale of Peter Rabbit, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and more into an interactive exhibit that promotes literacy skills and imagination through the stories we know and love.
